How it works
How Sona builds a twin that is really you
No magic, no hype. Five clear layers around one core. You can see every step and you control all of them.
One core, five layers
At the center is the Persona Core - the model of who you are. Around it sit five layers that capture you, let you talk to the twin, let it act, and keep it safe. Here is each one.
- YouOne core, five layers around it.
Layer 1 of 5
Capture: how Sona learns you
Persona Genesis: your twin interviews you - relaxed conversations, by voice or text, that sense where your richest material is and dig there. Life Import connects the chats, mail, notes, and calendar you choose. Always Learning keeps it sharpening: ten minutes of talk a day, capture as a habit, not a form.
Persona Genesis runs an adaptive 40-60 question interview engine (the questioning strategy itself adapts to where your material is richest), with persona completeness visible in real time. Life Import parses style automatically on 200-500 of your messages, strictly by explicit consent. A 10-15 minute voice sample builds the Voice Twin via our media layer.
It feels like talking to a curious friend. Underneath, it is building a rich, structured picture of you.
The recognition test
Measured against the recognition test
Every layer is judged by one question: can someone close to you, in a blind chat, tell the twin apart from you? When the answer is no, we have done our job. It is an ambitious bar, and it is measurable - blind A/B conversations, automatic style scoring, likeness as a number. We test it.
Same question, sent to two chats. One is a person. One is their Sona twin.
Honestly? Run the version where you stay and the version where you go, then check which one you keep talking yourself out of. That's usually the one you actually want.
Don't decide it as a job - decide it as a year of your life. What do you lose if you stay, and is that a story you'll be at peace telling later?

How it works FAQ
- How long does it take to build a good twin?
- A useful text twin starts within your first sessions. Fidelity keeps improving the more you talk to it - the persona is designed to never go stale.
- How much of my data does it need?
- Less than you would think. The style layer works on under 100 samples, and the onboarding interview does much of the work. You add only what you choose.
- Will it pretend to know things it does not?
- No. The biography anchor means it tells you when it does not know, instead of fabricating. That honesty is a core design rule.
- Can I control what it is allowed to do?
- Yes. You set topics it will not touch and actions it cannot take, and it asks before acting. Every action is logged.
